Empowering Youth: Think Like A Time Management Ninja

As a young person, the world seems like one big playground. With choices abound, you want to try everything you see. You say “yes” to everything that comes your way. You manage to meet deadlines, complete homework, study for exams, work a part-time job and still have time for yourself (dating, partying, online surfing etc.). Suddenly, all of your activities start to overlap resulting in not only missed deadlines but missed opportunities too.

Living is learning

“All of the top achievers I know are life-long learners… Looking for new skills, insights, and ideas. If they’re not learning, they’re not growing… not moving toward excellence.”                                                                     - Denis Waitley

Continuing education has never been as important as it is today. For people of all ages, lifelong learning is the key to longer, healthier, more satisfying and productive lives. The information revolution demands changes not only in what you learn but also in how you learn in the classroom and beyond. To keep up with the times you have to know not only how to access information, but also how to think and use the information wisely.

Get out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. You may find it easier to stay in the same patterns of behavior, the same job and the same habits, but you will risk getting stuck in a rut. Try doing this one step at a time on a small scale, for example trying new foods, buying an outfit you wouldn’t normally go for, or taking up a hobby that challenges you. Once you start making small changes you will find it easier to take on bigger challenges.

Youth Entrepreneur Pizza Party

May 25, 2010 By: Danette Nixon Category: For Youth

During the dinner break at the Glazer-Kennedy Super Conference my mom and I hosted The Youth Entrepreneurship Pizza Party!  We all had a good time hanging out eating pizza and discussing business.  Everybody at the party pokened each other which I mentioned in my Friday, April 30, 2010 blog post.  And at the end of dinner nobody wanted to leave.

At the closing ceremonies we had a drawing and I was one of the youth entrepreneurs that got to draw a ticket from the jar!  I confidently walked up onstage and stood beside Bill Glazer.  Then I shuffled the tickets all around the jar.  I drew a ticket from the jar over and over and over and over again. I’m not sure why but every card that I seemed to draw from the well nobody had the ticket number.  I drew and drew until finally somebody won and I quickly walked back to my seat where my mother greeted me with a loving smile.  I also received praise from the successful adults around me!
