For Youth Entrepreneurs

Starting and running your own business while still in school is a great opportunity to grow, learn, network, and accumulate wealth.  However, only a small number of young people actually start a business.

The first question you should answer when you are thinking of starting a business is “Am I the entrepreneur type”?

Let’s face it, some people have what it takes to be an entrepreneur and some people are more comfortable working for someone else.

Entrepreneurs come from different races, religions, economic levels, etc. but entrepreneurs are alike in many ways:

  • They have the drive to run a business
  • They think like a business owner
  • They work well with others
  • They communicate well
  • They have the knowledge to produce goods or services

You will be the most important person in your business so it is important to know your strengths and challenges before you get started.  Notice, we did not say “weaknesses”.

So let’s begin by having you rate your traits for starting a business. But don’t worry too much, you can improve challenge areas with practice and training or conquer challenges by hiring someone strong in that area.

The questions are easy but honesty is key!
